Puckett seems to maintain that the Church was incomplete until 70AD. After 70AD, the promises were complete, EVERYONE including the ungodly could then enter the promise land. I find it difficult to see how Puckett misses the point that a historical line fails to place anyone in the promise land. If it does, then it must be received corporately for all men, who live beyond or through 70AD. This is liken to the land Israel was promised when they crossed the Jordan. The land received was merely a show of that which is in heaven for the elect. The land promised was heavenly not earthly received when we physically die. So if Puckett believes the "church" constitutes "the land" then that which is "the land" after 70AD constitutes heaven itself. And unless he makes the clear distinction that it is IN CHRIST and not in history that one enters into the land of promise then he is teaching universalism. And if the grounds for entering into the land of promise is Jesus Christ, then what difference does AD70 make?
When Torpedoes Take A U-Turn
While the first century church was the "New Exodus" community, we are the "Promise Land" community. Just as Israel had to wait for the promise land for forty years, so did the church have to wait for her promises for forty years (AD 30-70). But after those forty years, Israel (along with Joshua) finally entered the land of promise. SO ALSO AFTER AD 70 WE TOO (along with Jesus) enter the real and spiritual Land of Promise, Hebrew 4. But just as Israel was the same Israel before and after they walked through to Canaan’s land, so also the church is still the same church before and after AD 70. The difference is that just as Israel received what God promised them after they entered the Land, so also God has finished His work for all those in the church after AD 70.
