Larry Siegle: "Suffering" WAS FOR THAT "Present Time"

Hyperpreterist seem to cut Christianity off at its very foundation and view the bible as for them but not for us. Comments like this really get my blood boiling because this "suffering" which Larry assumes was applicable for "that generation" becomes non-applicable to us today. I don't understand how Larry can really believe this crap, especially considering the suffering he has endured in his own life. This very comment nullifies the need to be bearers of own cross. Meaning that generation bore their cross, and endured all things for the sake of Christ. That generation suffered many things for their faith, yet we are different some how because we live in a different time, a different generation, a different age. Hyperpreterist have lost touch with what the cross stands for in our lives. Dying to self is indeed the suffering of the NT, and to say it is simply a past event is delusional to say the least. If suffering ceases then perhaps we have overcome the world already. Indeed Larry believes we have already finished the race. BLAH!

Larry Siegle " To a large extent we ARE what WE SAY we are. If we THINK that "suffering for Jesus" is what we are supposed to be doing, then bless God He will just let us have what we expect to have. Remember, the "suffering" was for that "present time"--2,000 years ago. Perhaps we need to move on into living in the Victory Christ gave us and allow His Victory to be demonstrated to the world around us."

Larry, remember your own words. "Preterism is NOT the CENTRALITY of the gospel--that is a place ONLY Jesus can occupy!" You have just replaced Jesus with preterism with your comments. Only Jesus can occupy our hearts, and our love for him allows us to endure all things including sufferings for his sake.
